WHERE TO EAT

Looking for somewhere to eat? Then look no further.

Despite being such a little town, Markinch has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and cafes.

Balbirnie House Hotel is just a short walk away from the main road leading into the town. So how about you take a stroll through the beautiful Balbirnie Park and have a meal in one of their two award-winning restaurants.

Or if that's a bit too fancy for you, head on down to Drummonds Hotel and Steakhouse right in the centre of town.

Whatever you're feeling, it won't be difficult to find.

BALBIRNIE HOUSE HOTEL

Balbirnie House dates back to the 17th century when it was first built for the Balfour family and was used regularly by General Robert Balfour who inherited it from his father, John.

The House has been remodelled and renovated a number of times since it was built and was eventually acquired by the Glenrothes Development Corporation in 1969. It became the hotel that we are familiar with now in 1990.

The Hotel boasts 30 rooms and two award-winning restaurants, The Bistro and The Orangery, making it a popular venue for weddings (winning “Scotland’s Wedding Hotel of the Year” 10 times).

The restaurants are perfect if you are looking for a high standard, but reasonably priced meal. Whether you are looking for a spot of lunch or a high tea, there is always something to offer from Balbirnie.

The beautiful building and bustling nature surrounding it are just a bonus.
