My name is Kendal and I am 21 years old. I have lived in Markinch for the best part of those 21 years – the last 3 I’ve been in Edinburgh for university.

My time away at university has taught me many things, but the most important thing I’ve learned is that there really is no place like home.

​

Every time I come back to Markinch, there’s something new. Whilst I’ve been away, so many things have changed: the bank closed, Glen’s Bakers is now a dog grooming shop and the two main restaurants go by completely different names. So. Much. Change.

​

Now, I would have hoped my family would keep me updated on such happenings, but alas I must find out on my own. And that is what inspired this website.

​

I wanted to make a place where someone could find everything they needed to know about Markinch – where to eat, what to do, the latest news – all on the one website.

​
